The Filson has developed three Kentucky-related digital exhibits. In them the viewer can learn about Ohio Valley and Kentucky history and Kentuckians that have played a role in our nation's history.
"The First American West: The Ohio River Valley, 1750-1820" focuses on the history of the Ohio Valley and Kentucky from 1750 to 1820. Part of the Library of Congress's "American Memory" project, The Filson partnered with the University of Chicago to produce an online exhibit of approximately 15,000 digital images of historical material dating from that time period addressing various themes.
"Lincoln's Kentucky" was developed by The Filson as part of its Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial plan. Supported in part by a grant from the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, the site presents information and images relating to Kentucky during Lincoln's life, Lincoln's Kentucky connections, his legacy in the state of his birth, and Lincoln material at The Filson.
"Lewis and Clark in Kentucky" was developed by The Filson to mark the bicentennial of the 1803 to 1806 Lewis and Clark Expedition. Kentucky played an important role in that American epic. Supported in part by a grant from the Kentucky Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission, "Lewis and Clark in Kentucky" presents information and images regarding Kentucky connections to the Corps of Discovery and its famous journey.
