The Great Journey
This one-man, one-act performance brings to life a significant event in
our nation’s history, the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Learn of the
trials and hardships that were part of the greatest journey in American
history. Co-leader William Clark recounts the adventures of the Expedition.
Classes are encouraged to see the performance at Filson on Main, complementing
the experience with a scavenger hunt in the exhibit. The Great Journey
can also be scheduled to perform at individual schools if classes are
unable to come to Filson on Main.
Although focused for the fourth grade level, students of all ages can
enjoy and learn from William Clark’s re-telling of the Lewis and
Clark Expedition. The script was written to comply with KERA guidelines.
Cost: $150 per performance. To schedule a performance, call (502) 635-5083

Lewis and Clark History Trunk
This trunk is a chance for students to discover the history of the Expedition
with a hands-on approach that will bring this American epic to life. Students
will participate in a conversation about the westward journey and the
many encounters along the trail. Students can compare their hand to a
cast of a grizzly bear track or learn how a sextant worked for mapmaking
on the journey. Plan a trip to Filson on Main for an on-site lesson along
with a museum tour and scavenger hunt through the new exhibit "Lewis
and Clark: The Exploration of the American West, 1803-1806." The
trunk can also be scheduled as part of your in-classroom experience. This
educational tool is an excellent way to prepare students for many learning
opportunities that will be available as the nation commemorates the bicentennial
of the journey.
