Lewis and Clark History Trunk

This trunk is a chance for students to discover the history of the Expedition with a hands-on approach that will bring this American epic to life. Students will participate in a conversation about the westward journey and the many encounters along the trail. Students can compare their hand to a cast of a grizzly bear track or learn how a sextant worked for mapmaking on the journey. Plan a trip to Filson on Main for an on-site lesson along with a museum tour and scavenger hunt through the new exhibit "Lewis and Clark: The Exploration of the American West, 1803-1806." The trunk can also be scheduled as part of your in-classroom experience. This educational tool is an excellent way to prepare students for many learning opportunities that will be available as the nation commemorates the bicentennial of the journey.
