lecture about Lincoln’s 1860 presidential campaign.

Back to Kentucky: Lincoln and Farmington, Feb. 2008 – Feb. 2010, Farmington Historic Home, Louisville, Ky.
The special exhibit will focus on Lincoln’s important connections to the Speed family at Farmington and the consequences of his visit for the family.

Lincoln’s 1841 visit to Farmington and Louisville will be commemorated with three weeks of special programming. Events will include a reenactment of Lincoln’s arrival at Farmington, bus and walking tours of Lincoln's Louisville, as well as programs on Louisville in 1841, architecture, culture, women's roles, and enslaved African Americans at Farmington and in Louisville.
The Frazier International History Museum
Lincoln on Leadership, Monday Feb. 11, Frazier International History Museum, Louisville, Ky. This symposium sponsored by the KALBC, McConnell Center at the University of Louisville, and the Frazier International History Museum will feature acclaimed historian Pulitzer Prize winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin. Dr. Goodwin will discuss Abraham Lincoln’s leadership qualities and there will be an additional address by political speechwriter and advisor Richard Goodwin.

Bryan Bush, M.A., of the University of Louisville examines the relationship between Lincoln and Joshua and James Speed.

Abraham Lincoln Bi-Centennial Celebration, Monday Feb. 11, Whitney Hall, Louisville, Ky.
This gala evening features the Louisville Orchestra, Soprano Angela Brown, NPR's Bob Edwards as master of ceremonies, and Sam Waterston from Law & Order portraying Lincoln and more.

Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln’s Journey to Emancipation, Dec. 13, 2007 – Feb. 14 2008, Louisville Free Public Library Main Branch, Louisville, Ky.
A panel series of historical documents and photographs explores events in Lincoln’s life that transformed his views on slavery and ultimately led to his 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. The “Forever Free” programming includes more than 80 free educational Lincoln bicentennial events featured at all library locations including re-enactors, book discussion, guest speakers, quilting programs, and debate tournaments.

Lincoln Statue Unveiling, April 15, 2009, Louisville, Ky. Kentucky sculptor Ed Hamilton will unveil his bronze Lincoln statue commissioned by the Louisville Waterfront Park Development Corporation.
