By Becoming a Member, You Can Make a Difference.

The Filson Historical Society is the oldest privately supported historical society in Kentucky. For over one hundred years we have served the public through our extensive library, varied museum artifacts, and our special collections department that includes original manuscripts, letters, diaries, photographs, maps, and portraits. Our extensive collections form a regional educational resource that attracts national and international researchers. We are an organization dedicated to providing continuing adult education in the form of quarterly publications, weekly lectures, historical tours, art exhibits, reading-and-discussion groups, and weekend-long history conferences.

Because we receive no government support, your membership is critical in our efforts to maintain the high level of service we provide to our patrons, researchers, and the community at large. Your membership directly helps to fulfill our mission of identifying important historical artifacts, acquiring them, and preserving them for the education of future generations.
