In Spring 2003, The Filson Historical Society
began the publication of a regional scholarly journal, Ohio
Valley History, in partnership with Cincinnati Museum Center
and the University of Cincinnati Department of History. The new
quarterly journal focuses on the history and culture of the Ohio
Valley region, which includes Kentucky and parts of the surrounding
states. Issues feature articles, photo essays, and reviews of
books, movies and exhibits relating to the greater Ohio Valley.
Ohio Valley History replaces the previously published
journal, The Filson History Quarterly. Read More...
The Filson is The Filson Historical
Society's quarterly newsmagazine. In it can be found institutional
news, announcements, and articles. The articles are normally
written by staff and based on Filson collections. Two
regular features are "New Acquisitions" and "Browsing In Our
Archives." To read past issues click the "Newsmagazine" link
on the left. For additional information and questions contact
Jamie Evans (502-635-5083; jevans@filsonhistorical.org).
Published between 1926
and 2002, The Filson Club History Quarterly was the
forebearer to the Ohio Valley History journal. The
Quarterly offered scholarly articles related to the
history of Kentucky and the surrounding region, as well as news and
comments geared toward the Filson membership. In 2010, the full 76
years of this publication were digitized and are now accessible
through the Filson website. View full-text
Quarterly articles here.
